Saturday 13th July – Ohtemachi Rotary club charter
This afternoon headed into Toyama for the charter ceremony of Toyama Ohtemachi rotary club. We pretty much in 3 sections. The first being lots of boring speeches that I don’t think that any of us exchange students were really even trying to pay attention. The second section was a concert by a quartet. Very nice sounding. But we were thoroughly amused that they sang “them bones” (the hip bones connected to the leg bone the leg bones connected to the foot bone the foot bone…. ) we then changed venues and had a standing buffet dinner where a lot of the Rotarians drank a little bit to much. Then home again, I must say I didn’t at all enjoy the trip home with the 4 Rotarians from my club as they were a bit tipsy. And very hard to understand but I know I was the point of a lot of their laughs.
Sunday 14th July – lunch with 22H
So today we went to lunch at “botejako” and when I say we I mean most of my homeclass. That was really cool had okonomiyaki and something else that I have forgotten the name of atm will try and remember to ask one of them and tell you, but it was very yummy… and cheap I ended up paying about 300 yen ($4) After lunch we went to Karaoke at japan rent a car … yes they have karaoke at a car rental place! I don’t understand either? But that to was very cheap about $3 for 3 hours ! there we sang lots and lots of songs includidng me singing some Japanese ones and the boys choosing English songs of which they knew like one or two lines they would sing that much and then hand me the mic! Half the time I didn’t actually know them either. But thanks to them I now have a micheal Jackson song stuck in my head!
