Wednesday 19th 2007 ~ going to Japan, homeless

So it’s the first day of Japan trip 07 and so far it’s been pretty good, flight took ages and was rather boring coz we had no in flight entertainment and when leaving Brisbane we just sat in the plane for ages befor we actually went anywhere. I sat next to James for most of the flight, next to the window and Olivia was sitting next to him.
Kitty has already started saying that james and I are going out, but that’s kitty being kitty and trying to piss me off. I slept for a bit but most of the time was spent talking with james and doing sudokus and crosswords. And making fun at newspaper articles… trying to read a Japanese paper and not really sicedding so making up stories from the pictures.
After we got off the plane we went through immigration and what not really fast, they really don’t seem to care to much. And got on the bus to our hotel. It was only when we got to our hotel that it even kinda kicked in that we were in Japan, when I was back somewhere that has som many great memories from last trip. This time im in room 403 (which was the boys room last trip) the other senior girls are in the room I was in last time. Im in with all the little kids, I was kinda upset about that at first but I suppose some one had to be and it doesn’t really matter that much anyway, coz we are allowed into each others rooms. We went out wondering to get dinner and generally just have a look around, James, Jess, BB and I went to the hiyukuyen (100yen) shop (where everything actually cost 105 yen (about $1.10AU) and then to maccas for dinner coz it was practically the only thing open.
Walking the hmm about 200m between maccas and our hotel we were confronted with about 20 homeless people sleeping in the streets, even having walked the same streets 2 years previous and having seen it befor, and I actually think there was a lot more in 05 I was still relly confronted by it as where a lot of the others that hadn’t really ever seen that type of poverty to that extent in real life before. We then came back to the hotel for our baths (communal) and bed, im now writing this at almost midnight just coz I wanted to get it all down… woo a 21 hour day.
